Fuel price optimization platform for transport fleets
We built a platform that analyzes and optimizes the fuel spend of truck fleets, integrating WEX cards and a gas cost solver to manage the most volatile cost in the operation.
PowerDrive works in transport fleet management, where fuel is one of the largest —and most variable— operating costs. Every truck, route and gas fill-up directly impacts fleet profitability, and that spend needed to stop being a black box and become actionable information.
The challenge
Control and optimize the fuel spend of a truck fleet from scattered data: gas fill-ups, prices per station and the movements of the WEX cards used across the operation. The challenge was to turn all of that into a single view and into concrete cost decisions, instead of reports that arrived late and without context.
What we built
WEX card integration
We connected WEX fuel cards to the platform through APIs, so every fleet gas fill-up comes in structured and tied to its vehicle and operation.
Gas cost solver
We built a solver that calculates and compares fuel cost per fill-up, route and station, pinpointing where and how the fleet is overspending.
Fuel price analysis and optimization
On top of the WEX data and the solver, we built the analysis that detects spending patterns and optimization opportunities, translating fuel price into concrete decisions to manage the fleet.
Custom platform over APIs
We delivered the solution as custom software with .NET and Node.js services, using APIs as the integration layer between the WEX cards, the solver and the fleet operation.
Deployed on Azure
We deployed and operate the platform on Azure, giving fleet management a single, available place to consult fuel cost.
