Odoo implementation, custom modules and migration for Mexican companies
We are not a consultancy that configures and subcontracts the development: we are the software factory that builds what others outsource. In-house Python/OWL modules, code that is 100% yours, CMMI Level 2 processes, fixed budget and a nearshore team in Monterrey + Texas — with a TCO 60-75% lower than SAP Business One in SMB scenarios.

MTY + TexasOdoo in Mexico, explained plainly
Odoo is an open-source, modular ERP that integrates CRM, sales, inventory, accounting, manufacturing and more in a single platform —what is invoiced in sales draws down inventory and posts to accounting with no double entry—. In Mexico the challenge is not Odoo: it is localization (CFDI 4.0, DIOT, Carta Porte) and making sure the custom development is truly yours. As an Odoo Ready partner, at iTechDev we handle the implementation, the migration from CONTPAQi, Aspel or SAP, the Mexican localization and in-house module development.
Unlike a consultancy that configures and subcontracts, here the code is 100% yours: it is the same engineering behind our software factory, applied to your ERP, with local support and CFDI invoicing in MXN. If you are weighing options, start with our complete guide to Odoo in Mexico.
Three ways to start, depending on where you are today
From evaluating whether Odoo fits to fabricating the modules your operation needs. In every case, a quote with a fixed budget after the assessment.
Assessment + Quick Start
We map your processes and tax requirements, define scope and modules, and give you the Community vs Enterprise decision with a roadmap and a 3-year TCO. If it makes sense, we kick off a Quick Start with the core modules.
Implementation + Migration
Phased roll-out of CRM, Sales, Inventory, Accounting and Manufacturing, with ETL from your previous system: catalogs, balances and history. SAT chart of accounts and CFDI 4.0 stamped when the invoice is confirmed.
Custom modules + integration
Our specialty and our differentiator: we fabricate the modules in-house in Python/OWL and connect them to your banking, e-commerce and legacy systems via REST and XML-RPC. What others outsource is in-house engineering here, with code that is 100% yours.
When Odoo with iTechDev is the right call
Five real situations for Mexican companies. Each one is solved with the same software factory, Mexican localization and code you own.
You drop CONTPAQi or Aspel for a single ERP
Sales, inventory and accounting live in separate systems and everything is re-keyed. We migrate catalogs, balances and history into a single Odoo, with reconciliation reports before go-live.
See how we solve itYou escape the cost of SAP without losing capability
You pay per-user licenses and maintenance you barely leverage. With Odoo you get the same operational outcome at a TCO typically 60-75% lower in SMB scenarios — and the code is yours.
See how we solve itManufacturing or distribution that exports to the US
Your US customer demands traceability and compliance. We implement MRP and WMS with lot and serial-number control, with a bilingual team in your time zone that talks to your customer.
See how we solve itCarta Porte 3.1 is holding up your shipments
SAT rejections stall your transfers. We configure the Carta Porte 3.1 complement for road transport (type T) with field validation, so it stamps on confirmation and bounces stop.
See how we solve itYour Odoo is broken or has no partner
The partner vanished and you were left with an Odoo nobody maintains. The good news: the code is yours. We audit it, stabilize it and leave it with AMS support and a defined SLA.
See how we solve itIf your case looks like any of these, the assessment gives you scope, an edition decision and a fixed budget — no commitment.
Tell us your caseWhy Odoo with a software factory?
Not all Odoo providers are the same. There are three profiles in the market, and we tell you honestly where we stand and why it matters when you need more than configuration.
Configures and subcontracts the development
Many consultancies configure Odoo well, but when you need a real module they subcontract the code to a third party. The knowledge lives outside, timelines stretch, and every change goes through a middleman.
The development is not theirsMay disappear and leave you a black box
A solo developer or a small partner solves it cheaply today, but if they disappear you are left with no support, no documentation and an Odoo nobody else understands. The initial saving becomes a risk.
Risk of being left aloneSoftware factory (us)
We build the modules in-house in Python/OWL, with code that is 100% yours, CMMI Level 2 processes, a fixed budget and AMS support with an SLA. What others outsource, we fabricate — and document.
The code and the knowledge stay with youPeople say Odoo "depends on the local developer", "hides costs" or "is hard to standardize". With a software factory behind it, none of that applies: the code is yours and documented, the budget is fixed and closed after the assessment, and CMMI Level 2 processes standardize every delivery.
Odoo vs SAP Business One, honestly compared
We implement both, so we have no reason to inflate one. These are the criteria that actually move the decision.
| Criteria | Odoo (with iTechDev) | SAP Business One |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost (TCO) over 3 years | Lower: typically 60-75% lower in SMB scenarios | Higher: per-user licenses + annual maintenance |
| Per-user license | No in Community; optional in Enterprise | Yes, per named user |
| Mexican localization (CFDI 4.0, DIOT, Carta Porte) | Yes — l10n_mx + custom module + authorized PAC | Yes — via localization add-on / partner |
| Flexibility and code access | Open source; custom modules with code 100% yours | Proprietary; customization via SDK, vendor code |
| Vendor lock-in | Low — code and data are yours | Higher — you depend on licenses and the SAP ecosystem |
| Ecosystem and maturity | Broad OCA ecosystem + active global community | Mature, highly consolidated enterprise ecosystem |
| Community vs Enterprise | Community license-free; Enterprise adds official accounting, studio and apps | Single paid edition, licensed per user |
| Ideal for… | SMBs and mid-market that want flexibility and cost control | Companies with an SAP headquarters or SAP corporate processes |
iTechDev implements both Odoo and SAP (including SAP Business One): this comparison is not meant to disqualify SAP, but to help you choose with data. SAP Business One is the right choice when your headquarters already runs SAP or your processes require it; Odoo usually wins on TCO and flexibility for SMBs and mid-market. The 60-75% saving range is typical in SMB scenarios and is validated case by case in the assessment.

Frequently asked questions
Can't find your question? Talk to an engineer — no sales script.
Contact us →How much does it cost to implement Odoo?
It depends on scope. An implementation of CRM + Sales + Inventory + CFDI invoicing usually starts at 8-12 weeks. We work with a budget defined after the diagnosis — no ambiguous scope. We schedule a 30-minute call to give you a no-commitment estimate.
Odoo Community or Enterprise?
Community is open source with no license cost and covers most operational needs with OCA modules and tailored development. Enterprise (paid) adds official Mexico accounting, e-signatures, a low-code studio, mobile apps and direct support from Odoo S.A. We advise without bias: the decision depends on your volume, required modules and budget.
Why "Odoo Ready" and not "Gold" or "Silver"?
Odoo Ready honestly states what we are: a firm that implements, customizes, migrates and integrates on Odoo and develops custom modules in Python/OWL. Odoo's "Silver/Gold" tiers depend on the volume of Enterprise subscriptions a partner resells each year — that is a commercial model, not a measure of technical capability. We prefer to compete on engineering (code 100% yours, CMMI Level 2, 200+ projects, 5.0★ Clutch) and not inflate a partner level that does not define us. We work on Community and Enterprise without license bias.
Odoo or SAP Business One?
We implement both, so we advise without bias. SAP Business One is the right choice when your headquarters already runs SAP or your corporate processes require it. Odoo usually wins on TCO (typically 60-75% lower in SMB scenarios) and on flexibility, because it is open source and the custom code stays 100% your property. In the assessment we compare your specific case with data, without disqualifying either.
Can you migrate from CONTPAQi, Aspel or SAP Business One?
Yes. We run ETL from SAP Business One, Dynamics, CONTPAQi, Aspel and AdminPAQ: we export catalogs, balances and history, and configure Odoo to operate from day one, with reconciliation reports prior to go-live.
Does Odoo stamp CFDI 4.0 directly?
Yes. With the l10n_mx localization plus a custom module connected to an authorized PAC (Factura.com or Finkok), Odoo stamps the CFDI 4.0 automatically when the invoice is confirmed, without going through the SAT portal.
Does Odoo comply with the Carta Porte 3.1 complement?
Yes, for road-transport transfers (type T). With the l10n_mx localization and a custom module connected to the PAC, Odoo generates and stamps the Carta Porte 3.1 complement when the transfer is confirmed, with field validation to avoid SAT rejections. The complement applies to ground transport of the Transfer type; air, maritime and rail modes have different rules that we evaluate case by case.
Is the custom development really in-house?
Yes, and it is our differentiator. Unlike consultancies that configure Odoo and subcontract the development, we are the software factory: our team builds the Python/OWL modules, with CMMI Level 2 processes, a fixed budget and code that is 100% your property, delivered with repository and documentation. No black box, no dependency on a third party.
Where is Odoo hosted and between which versions do you migrate?
We host it on Odoo.sh (Odoo managed hosting) or on your own infrastructure with Docker, depending on your case. We work on Odoo 18 and 19, and perform version migrations by adapting the custom modules and validating the data.
