SAP ECC end of support in 2027
Mainstream support for SAP ECC 6.0 ends in 2027. After that, security patches and technical support are no longer available except through extended contracts at significant cost. The closer the deadline, the more saturated consultants get and the more expensive projects become.
Migrations that turn into a black box
S/4HANA projects that start with no clear scope, no intermediate demos and no verifiable deliverables. The client has no idea what is happening until go-live, when it is already too late to fix.
Scarce, expensive SAP talent
Finding ABAP, functional or Basis consultants takes months, and direct hiring exceeds 90 days. Meanwhile, the SAP roadmap stalls and critical projects get postponed.
Systems that do not talk to each other
SAP on one side, the CRM on another, e-commerce and banking on their own. Double data entry, manual exports, inconsistent data and processes that should be automatic but are not.
Custom developments impossible to maintain
Undocumented ABAP code, no controlled transport orders and no tests. Every change depends on whoever wrote it, and nobody wants to touch it for fear of breaking production.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to implement SAP in Mexico?
It depends on scope, but as a reference: SAP Business One for mid-size companies ranges from $500K to $2M MXN (licenses, implementation and training), and S/4HANA for medium and large companies from $3M to $20M+ MXN depending on module count, users and integrations. Licenses are paid monthly or annually. We do precise sizing to avoid overspending and unnecessary licenses.
Business One or S/4HANA?
Business One is ideal for companies of 1 to 300 employees with standard processes and a limited budget; it deploys in 8-12 weeks. S/4HANA is for companies of 300+ employees with complex processes, multiple plants, advanced manufacturing or specific regulatory requirements. The decision depends on your transaction volume, organizational complexity and 5-year growth projection.
When does SAP ECC support end?
SAP announced the end of mainstream support for SAP ECC 6.0 in 2027. After that date, security updates, patches and technical support are no longer available except through extended support contracts at significant additional cost. If you still run ECC, it is best to start your S/4HANA migration plan as soon as possible to avoid the consultant congestion near the deadline.
How long does an S/4HANA migration take?
A typical brownfield migration takes 6 to 12 months depending on module count, data volume and complexity of existing customizations. A greenfield can take 9 to 18 months as it involves redesigning processes. Critical factors are data cleanup, adapting custom ABAP developments and training. We recommend starting at least 18 months before the support deadline.
Can you integrate SAP with Salesforce or other systems?
Yes, it is one of our specialties. We use SAP CPI, REST/BAPI/RFC APIs and connectors to sync customers, orders, inventory and billing between SAP and systems like Salesforce or e-commerce. We eliminate double data entry and the manual export-import processes that generate errors and delays.
Do you offer SAP consultants per project (staffing)?
Yes. We have staff augmentation with ABAP consultants, module-specific functionals, Fiori developers, BTP architects and Basis administrators, available per project, per hour or full-time dedicated. Certified SAP talent is scarce in Mexico and direct hiring exceeds 3 months; with our model you have an operational consultant within weeks.
Is iTechDev a SAP partner?
We work within the SAP ecosystem: we implement, migrate, develop and integrate on SAP technology (S/4HANA, Business One, SuccessFactors, BTP/CPI, ABAP/Fiori) with consultants who have real experience in Mexican industry. The configuration and code we produce are your property, with no vendor lock-in.
