Which processes can I automate with AI, and which aren't worth it?
Good candidates: extracting data from invoices, contracts or forms; classifying emails, tickets or documents; generating draft replies; moving information between systems; and recurring reports. What you should NOT force with AI: critical decisions without supervision, processes that change every week with no pattern, or tasks a simple rule already solves. During discovery we separate what to automate with AI, what with a rule, and what to leave to a person.
Why n8n instead of a fully custom solution from scratch?
n8n is a workflow orchestrator that runs on your own infrastructure: it connects your systems, calls the AI models and handles triggers, retries and errors without reinventing that plumbing on every project. That lowers cost and delivery time, and keeps the workflow visible and editable by your team. When a step needs specific logic, we solve it with custom code inside the same flow. We use exactly this approach to automate our own SEO, blog, content and notifications — it's not a catalog recommendation.
What about my sensitive data? Does it go to an external model?
You decide. n8n is deployed on your infrastructure, so the workflows and storage (PostgreSQL, for example) stay on your side. For the language models we can use enterprise APIs with no-training agreements over your data, mask or withhold sensitive fields, or evaluate self-hosted models when the data can't leave. We define what is sent, where, and with what controls before touching production.
What happens if the AI gets it wrong?
We design the workflow assuming it can be wrong. Every extraction or classification carries a confidence level: if it's below the threshold, or a value doesn't validate against your rules, the flow doesn't write blindly — it escalates to a person (human-in-the-loop) to review and approve. Everything is logged, with retries and alerts. AI assists and speeds things up; your team keeps control over the decisions that matter.
