ODOO IN MEXICO

Odoo in Mexico: the guide that decides whether it fits

Everything to settle before signing: whether it stamps CFDI 4.0, which edition you need, who maintains the server and what it actually costs. Straight, including what is not included.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Start with the deadline, not the software

In Mexico an ERP decision is not triggered by a strategy meeting — it is triggered by the tax authority. So the first question is not which modules you want, but whether the system can meet the obligation that already applies to you.

CFDI 4.0

If you issue invoices, the system has to stamp them in the current standard. It is binary: it stamps or it does not. There is no "almost".

Carta Porte

If you move goods by road, the shipment needs its complement. Odoo covers road transport; sea, air and rail require development.

DIOT and electronic accounting

Third-party operations reporting and the Annex 24 files. This is what your accountant asks for in month one, not year two.

COMPARISON

The three editions, compared where it matters

The same table we draw in every first session. Three columns decide almost everything: whether it stamps, whether you can add your own code, and who has to update it.

BUDGET

What it costs, and what the cheap option leaves out

The entry point that does stamp CFDI is Empresa MX, at $89,000 MXN. There are cheaper packages, and here is what usually goes unsaid:

Fiscal Esencial costs less ($44,900 MXN) but requires proving your tax regime, so advertising it as the general floor would be misleading: most companies do not qualify. And the cheapest package in the catalog does NOT invoice — it organizes your operation while you keep stamping wherever you stamp today.

CHOOSING A VENDOR

How to choose a partner, tiers included

You will see badges: Ready, Silver, Gold. It helps to know what they measure before using them as a criterion.

Program tiers depend mostly on the volume of subscriptions a partner resells, not on technical capability. iTechDev is Odoo Ready, the entry tier — we say so because the useful criterion is a different one: who writes the module when Odoo does not ship what you need, and who owns that code afterwards.

PROOF

We run on it, we do not just sell it

iTechDev runs its own company on Odoo 19: sales, projects, timesheets and invoicing. When we say something can or cannot be done, it is because we had to solve it on our own instance first.

Can Odoo Community invoice in Mexico?

Not on its own. The Mexican localization with catalogs and accounting (l10n_mx) ships in Community, but the one that stamps CFDI 4.0 (l10n_mx_edi) is Enterprise. There are other ways to solve it, and all of them involve development or a paid component: budget for it from the start.

How long does an implementation take?

It depends on scope, and that answer alone is useless. That is why every package publishes its own timeline next to its price: from a couple of weeks to organize the operation, to several months once history migration, accounting and custom development are in.

Can I migrate from CONTPAQi or Aspel?

Yes, and it is the most common case. What to decide first is what gets migrated: catalogs and opening balances is one project; dragging years of history is a much bigger one. Usually the first is the right call, keeping the old system for lookups.

Is the custom module code mine?

Yes. Whatever is built for your company is delivered in your repository and under your name. That is the practical difference between hiring a software factory and renting a customization you cannot take with you.

What happens when Odoo releases a new version?

Odoo ships one major version a year. Upgrading is not automatic once you have custom modules: they have to be tested against the new version. That is exactly what a support contract covers, and why it is worth having before you need it.

Do I have to buy the license through you?

No. The Odoo license is paid directly to Odoo and we add no markup. We mention it because there are resellers charging well above the public list.

Request your technical analysis

Three fields and we schedule the first session. You leave with a closed written quote — yours, whatever you decide. The analysis costs $7,500 MXN and is credited if you move forward.

Where are you in the process?

We book nothing without your permission. No cold calls.
