Odoo licensing consulting: how many licenses you actually need
How many Odoo licenses you really need and in which tier —Community, Online or Odoo.sh—, with the exact number in writing. Since we do not resell licenses (0% markup, you pay Odoo directly), our job is to size it down, not to oversell you.
Licensing consulting means sizing your Odoo honestly: how many users really need a license, which plan (Standard or Custom) and which tier (Community self-hosted, Odoo Online or Odoo.sh) your operation runs on.
We are Odoo Ready: we do not resell licenses or charge a "partner discount", so you pay the license directly to Odoo with 0% markup from us. That is the point: since we do not earn from your license, we have no incentive to inflate users or push you to Enterprise.
The code and configuration are 100% yours from day one.
You pay the license directly to Odoo. With 0% markup from us.
We do not resell licenses or charge a "partner discount". That aligns the incentive the opposite way to the rest of the market: since we do not earn from your license, our job is to size it down, not up.
I will not promise you a percentage. I give you your number.
Six operational reasons, zero adjectives
The code is yours from day one
Repos in your name, documented CI/CD and zero vendor lock-in. If you leave tomorrow, you take it all, running.
WhatsApp API with an official provider
We are a Meta Tech Provider: your WhatsApp Business API line with no middlemen, and chatbots wired to your ERP.
Sprint delivery you can click
A working demo every two weeks and measurable progress. No "it’s 80% done" without something you can click.
AI applied to your operation
LLM agents, RAG over your data and process automation — the same practice we use to run iTech itself.
Real nearshore: Texas + Monterrey
Legal entity in the U.S. (iTech Corp, Texas), contracts under U.S. law, same CST time zone and USMCA.
ERP with CFDI 4.0 invoicing
We implement Odoo with integrated SAT stamping (PAC), client portal and reconciliation — a full operation, not just software.
Where people overpay (and should not)
What it includes
Real user count
We separate who needs an internal license from who does not: portal users, customers and external vendors are free in Odoo and should not be counted as paid.
Edition and plan choice
Community vs Enterprise, and Standard vs Custom based on what you actually use (Studio, multi-company, external API). Without pushing you to the higher plan.
Hosting tier
Community self-hosted, Odoo Online or Odoo.sh, based on your tax case, addendas and PAC. It is the decision that moves the most budget and the one people who buy Odoo alone get wrong most.
License cost in writing
The exact number against Odoo's official public list for Mexico, dated. You pay it directly to Odoo; we earn $0 on it.
3-year TCO
License plus hosting, implementation, development and support, so you compare the real cost —not just the license— between Community and Enterprise.
Unbiased recommendation
If Community suits you, we say so even if it leaves us less margin; if Enterprise is worth it in your case, too. Our invoice is the same.
How we size it
1User countDeliverablethe list of users that do require a licenseNot includedcounting portal or external users as paid
We capture who really operates and who only views or interacts from outside.
2Edition and planDeliverablerecommended edition and plan with the reasoningNot includedpushing you to the higher plan for commission
We decide Community vs Enterprise and Standard vs Custom based on what you use.
3Hosting tierDeliverablerecommended tierNot includedforcing Odoo Online if your operation needs modules or your own PAC
We cross your tax case, addendas and PAC against Community/Online/.sh.
4Number and TCO in writingDeliverableexact number and TCO in writingNot includedmarkup or an invented savings percentage
We compute the license cost against the official list and the 3-year TCO.
Licensing is a deliverable of the analysis
License sizing is not sold separately: it is part of the technical analysis. We count your real users —without inflating with portal or external ones—, choose edition, plan and tier, and hand you the exact number and the 3-year TCO in writing. You pay the license directly to Odoo; we earn $0 on it.
Just want to decide the tier on your own, for free? The "Which version do I need?" guide walks you through the full tree, no data required.
Request the analysisWhere will your Odoo run?
The edition decides WHICH features you get; the hosting decides WHERE it runs and WHETHER you can add custom code. In Mexico that decides whether you can stamp with your PAC, do addendas and payroll — or not.
| Community (self-hosted) | Odoo Online (SaaS) | Odoo.sh (PaaS) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| License | Free (open source) | Enterprise · per user/month | Enterprise · per user/month + platform |
| Who administers the server | You / your partner (iTech AMS) | Odoo (100%) | Odoo (infra) · you/iTech (the code) |
| Custom modules / your own code | Yes, full control | No (only approved App Store) | Yes (deploy via Git) |
| PAC for CFDI | Any (factura.com, Finkok…) | Only the integrated ones (3) | Any |
| Addendas / payroll / multimodal Carta Porte | Developable | No (require code) | Developable |
| Startup cost | Lower license, higher infra/AMS | Predictable, all-inclusive | License + platform |
| For whom | Tight budget, wants full control and has someone to run the infra | SMB that wants standard Odoo, a fast start, and whose tax case fits an integrated PAC | Needs Enterprise + customization/addendas/own PAC/payroll, without administering the server |
The #1 mistake of those who buy Odoo alone: they pay for Odoo Online and then cannot stamp the way they need. Odoo Online does NOT take third-party modules or your own PAC — if your operation needs addendas, payroll or a specific PAC, it is Odoo.sh or Community. iTech prevents it in the analysis.
We decided it for ourselves first
We run iTech on Odoo 19 Community and chose that tier with the same criteria we apply with you: real users, tax case and code control. When we recommend Community or Enterprise, we are talking about a decision we already made, not a brochure.

Frequently asked questions
Can't find your question? Talk to an engineer — no sales script.
Contact us →How many Odoo licenses do I need?
The ones with users that actually operate inside the system. Odoo charges per internal user, not per app or per company. Portal users (customers viewing their orders or invoices) and external users pay no license. In the analysis we count your real case and hand you the number in writing, without inflating it.
Do you charge a commission on the Odoo license?
No. We earn $0 on your license: we do not resell it or add markup, and we do not charge a "partner discount". You pay the license directly to Odoo at its public list price. We charge for implementation, development and support — which is why we can size your license down with no conflict of interest.
Do portal and external users pay a license?
No. In Odoo, portal users —your customers or vendors who log in to see orders, invoices or tickets— and external users are free. Only internal users who operate the system pay a license. Counting portal users as paid is one of the most expensive mistakes when sizing.
Is the annual or the monthly plan better for me?
Odoo's annual plan is cheaper per user than the monthly one. If you will use Odoo all year —normal for an ERP— annual almost always wins. Monthly makes sense for a short period or a trial. Odoo's official public list for Mexico carries both prices and we compare them in the analysis.
Does "turning off apps" reduce my Odoo bill?
No. Odoo Online and Enterprise charge per user, not per application: you can enable more or fewer apps and your per-user license does not change. Anyone telling you to "turn off apps" to pay less is confusing the model. What does move the cost is the number of users and the plan (Standard vs Custom).
Is Community really free to invoice?
Community has no license cost, but invoicing from Community is not free: native CFDI 4.0 stamping (l10n_mx_edi) is Enterprise, so on Community it is solved with a custom or third-party module plus a maintenance contract to migrate it on each Odoo version. You save the license and buy development: it pays off past a certain number of users, and in the analysis we tell you which.
